Almond Breeze Smoothie

This smoothie is both nutty and sweet. Never tried almond milk before? Now is your chance. It’s a great alternative to dairy milk, especially for those people who are lactose-intolerant, have gluten allergy, are obese or have type II diabetes. Why? Almonds are a heart-hearty food with numerous nutritional benefits. They are a a great plant based protein source and a good source of vitamin E (great for skin health). It also contains 1/3 less calories than regular dairy milk without compromising the calcium content. So go ahead and give it a chance. Personally, I’ve tried different types (unsweetened, chocolate, etc) and liked the vanilla flavor best. It works well for smoothies, coffee and recipes.

Servings: 2

2 cups frozen papaya chunks
1 banana
1/2 cup vanilla almond breeze milk, *can also use nonfat dairy milk + vanilla extract
1/2 tbsp peanut butter or almond butter
4 ice cubes

NOTE:  If you don’t have access to papaya try peaches or cantaloupe instead.

Blend until smooth. Garnish with cinnamon and almond slices.
